What To Wear – The Style Guide

The Style Guide

After chatting and sharing my blog with the wonderful Karinda K – American Equine Photographer, I thought I would share it here too. Karinda aims to inspire her clients with style guides and what-to-wear ideas. How brilliant is that? I think this idea is perfect for those wanting that stunning photoshoot with the ideal outfit.

My Style:

I spend such a large amount of my time round the horses and at the yard. I want to feel comfortable as well as wanting to look good. If I look good it tends to lifts my spirits, it brightens my mood. (and the horses usually prefer me when I am in a happier mood!!)

The Casual Look

When I am putting together an outfit I will usually base it around some comfy breeches or jeans. I love the Horze full seat silicone in Navy. (infact I am a little addicted to them!)

Blues are a favourite of mine. For the casual, comfy yet chic look, blue is a great colour. For a base layer, I added in a plain black long sleeve tee. (which everyone has one of these lying about) Then chucked my favourite NY Yankees NewEra Cap on! (a must for the rainier days!) I also live in my Roeckl Gloves (Madrid in Black/Gold) they are lightweight and work with a touchscreen phone.

A woman needs a great pair of boots in her life too – mine are the Ariat Bromont H20’s. I love the simple lace up look on these, not too much detail for the everyday boot but gives you enough to look great.

Casual and Chic Styleboard

For the blue theme, I have picked out some great items that fit my comfort/casual and chic style.

To start with I recommend the new legging range from Fillies Equestrian. The Navy and White Cross effect is eye catching. They are comfy and easily wearable when popping to the shops or for a quick workout.

Aztec Diamond Equestrian have a great range of base layers. This stunning white base layer top is versatile so a definite must have for the wardrobe. It can be used for this casual look but also for a show/competition.

Layers

I love a good sweater or hoody. The Moin sweat from Inselpferd (inselpferd.de)

Grey is a great colour to accompany blues and the simplicity of the detail with this top works well.

Add a splash of colour with the Soft Shell Jacket from Horse Gloss in Royal Blue. A soft shell jacket is great for being around the horses. These jackets are good when you are busy working away but want to avoid the sharp winter winds.

Complete the look with the Vitality bracelet in grey from Pegasus Jewellery. A favourite item of mine as it does wonders for the body as well as the outfit.

My tips for putting together a great look is to find a colour that works well for you. Find one you love and that you can match other items to. I tend to pick the same colours a lot of the time, but I think it can work well as I know I have outfits I can mix and match.

* Go for comfort! Being comfortable doesn’t mean you can’t be stylish.

* Wear something that makes you feel confident. This is a must, if you don’t feel great in something it will show.

* Wear what makes you happy!
